The Dumbest Take Possible on 9/11 Has Arrived

As the 20th anniversary of 9/11 is upon us, the memories and memorials honoring those who died on that day and those who died in the following effort to eradicate terror’s perpetrators should be held in reverent respect. One would like to think that, for just one day, the perpetual victimhood brigade who cannot let a moment pass by without demanding the spotlight for their latest petulant delusional whine would step back. But no. Enter one Jenn M. Jackson, Ph.D. (so her Twitter bio says), published author and self-defined “Abolitionist+Writer+Prof Genderflux all pronouns.” Oh, and she’s also a columnist for Teen Vogue. You can see where this is headed.

Even with all of the above, her tweets on 9/11 immediate evoke a brief flash of speechless astonishment:

Wait. It’s bothersome that people talk about an attack on American soil that killed more than 3,000 innocent people? Gee, so sorry for the interruption. Would you families mourning loved ones please keep it down? You’re disturbing Ms. Ph.D. over here!

Also, since when does the color of the commentator matter? Here, let’s try this in reverse. “It’s over two years since George Floyd and I’m still really disturbed by how many black pundits and correspondents talk about it.” It takes little to envision the reaction should someone say that and mean it. But hey, there’s no such thing as reverse racism, right?

Next, we move on to Ms. Jackson’s expert analysis of why the 9/11 attacks took place. Brace yourself. But first, let’s whip out the persecution card!

I take it her Ph.D. isn’t in English.

Sorry, almost forgot for a moment there that only blacks have ever known oppression, discrimination … oh, wait …

Have you ever actually studied the history of racism in America, Ms. Jackson? Jim Crow? The 1921 Tulsa race riot? The KKK? The horrors inflicted upon the civil rights workers of the 1950s and 1960s? Guess what, buttercup. You have never experienced hardcore racism. Ever.

But back to 9/11, and the take that takes the cake.

Okay, let’s break this down here. Assuming it is possible to do so without breaking down into either peals of hysterical laughter or heavy sobs that someone can be this moronic.

The attack was on a “heteropatriarchal capitalistic systems that America relies upon to wrangle other countries into passivity.” Really. You mean all this talk by Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda about the evils of America and variations thereof based on religion, and civilians being acceptable targets in the name of Islam, was just joshin’? Gee, who knew. There’s also the inconvenient truth of Al-Qaeda and variations thereof attacking civilians in predominantly Muslim countries such as Indonesia. But who can bother with details?

Another minor detail overlooked by Ms. Jackson is that the dead on 9/11 weren’t all white males. Or even white. Or even all Americans. Darn those pesky suicide bombers and their inaccuracy in flying hijacked airliners!

The capper is putting “terror” in quotes in the last tweet. Apparently flying planes into buildings with the sole intent of killing innocent civilians isn’t actually terror. Wonder what it might be then. A misunderstanding? A justifiable action? Do try making a case for that, Ms. Jackson. On second thought, please don’t. We can only take so much stupidity at one time.

Finally, the best response.
